THE OCASSION
What a joyous opportunity to come together to sing and celebrate three years of Wa Wa Women.
It seemed we should mark this occasion and as we all love singing in nature, I have managed to organise a whole day sing – outdoors! There is a back up plan for not so pleasant weather and we will be heading indoors for a gorgeous shared feast for lunch. I would love to sing and celebrate this milestone with you then! Read on for all the info…
THE DAY
This singing day retreat will give you chance to dive deep into group singing. You will learn beautiful songs by ear that we will sing in harmony or in rounds. These songs will help you to connect to your mind, body and those around. Giving you time to reflect and release in a warm, welcoming and safe space. The songs you learn will help to create your own ‘tool kit’ of songs to guide you through any moment in life when you might need them.
You may arrive from 9.45am to gather in the village hall. There will be facilities to make a hot drink but please do bring a mug or a thermos for these. Once everyone has arrived we will make our way the short distance through the village to the secret garden on foot. If you have mobility issues there is the option to drive and space to park a couple of cars.
Once we have settled into the space, you can expect a warm-up to enable us to access our voices safely and get the most out of the session. This will be followed by much song learning and sharing.
LUNCH
We will head back to the village hall for lunch indoors at around 1pm. I would like to invite everyone coming along to bring one dish for giving that will form a shared feast for lunch. This does not need to be expensive, shop bought, home grown produce and home made dishes are all very welcome. It’s a lovely way to come together as a group to share a meal together. We will leave these offerings at the village hall and make our way back to the venue for our lunch break banquet style.
Please bare in mind that there might be dietary requirements and allergies, it is therefore recommend for a shared plate that you do not cook with nuts. If you do have specific dietary needs you also have the option to bring your own food to eat alongside everyone else.
WHAT TO BRING
You will need to bring your lunch time offering and also bring along a drink with you, preferably a bottle that can be refilled.
As we will be singing outdoors, please also bring with you either a camping chair or a rug to sit on. Do also be prepared for the weather, bring layers and blankets if as even on a sunny day the shady spots can be cool.
I also suggest that you bring something you can write with and on. We don’t write down the lyrics to songs but there may be a little bit of time for journaling or noting down anything that may come up for you.
PARKING
There is parking at the back of the village hall and also space for some cars roadside in the village. Please be mindful of residents and make sure drive-ways are kept clear.
